Overview
The battle of Dien Bien Phu was a significant military confrontation between the French Union forces and the Viet Minh, which resulted in a decisive victory for the Viet Minh and ultimately led to the end of French colonial rule in Indochina. The battle was a complex and intense military operation, and its historical significance cannot be described in terms of difficulty level.
Muong Phang, a commune in the northwest region of Vietnam near the Laos border, holds historical significance as a strategic base for the Viet Minh during the First Indochina War. It served as a secret sector where General Vo Nguyen Giap closely monitored the progress of the campaign. In this crucial location, General Giap faced the arduous task of making a difficult decision that would ultimately contribute to the victorious outcome of the Battle of Dien Bien Phu in 1954.
Phieng Loi Village, located more than 6 km away from Dien Bien Phu City, showcases a rich cultural heritage of the ancient Thai ethnic community. This charming village is a captivating destination for tourists exploring the northwestern province of Dien Bien. With its numerous cultural treasures and alluring community tourism offerings, Che Can Village is a must-visit for those seeking to immerse themselves in the traditions and customs of the Thai ethnic group.

DAY 01: TAY TRANG BORDER – DIEN BIEN PHU CITY (D)
Meet at the border crossing and transfer to Dien Bien Phu. Along the way, immerse yourself in the scenery and observe rural daily life and agricultural activities.
Upon arrival in Dien Bien Phu, check in at the hotel, have dinner, and enjoy your stay in comfortable accommodations.
7:30 AM: Enjoy your breakfast at the hotel.
Drive out to visit the Dien Bien Phu historical sites: Dien Bien Phu war remnants Museum where displays events in the war against the French in 1954.
The main attraction is a vast panoramic artwork, recognized as one of the largest war-themed oil paintings in the world. It captures the Dien Bien Phu battlefield during various moments from late 1953 to May 7,1954.
Continue on to visit some French positions such as Hill A1, Muong Thanh Bridge (the bailey bridge!), General De Castrie's bunker, an artillery base nearby.
Take a break in a tea room, where tea and coffee are available. After your short rest, continue driving to an ecotourism area, where you can swim in the hot spring pool and relax amidst the natural forest surroundings.
Return to Dien Bien Phu city. We continue to visit old Thai stilt houses, which showcase all the tools of livelihood and cultivation work. However, not much remains today, as these items have been collected from various places and gathered in this place. You will be given details about these items for a better understanding of the ancient life of the Thai minority people in Northwest Vietnam.
Evening activities include leisure time to enjoy a chat around the bar or to walk around and explore the nightlife of the city.
DAY 03: DIEN BIEN PHU CITY - GEN. GIAP’S HEADQUARTERS (B,L,D)
7:00 AM. Breakfast at the hotel
8:00 AM: Take a 25 km drive into the hills to the headquarters of the Vietnamese during the battle. Enjoy a walking route inside the green chestnut forest, and visit some bunkers where General Vo Nguyen Giap and his chief commanders worked in the war time.
Next, continue to Pa Khoang Reservoir, which covers an area of about 2,400 hectares and is set in a stunning landscape of natural forest.
Take a break by the shore, where tea and coffee are available.
You can also enjoy a boat ride on the lake, where you can take in the lush green surroundings of forests and mountains (please note that boating is an additional cost). Here, you can behold romantic landscapes and take some nice photos of the picturesque reservoir.
On the way back to Dien Bien Phu city, stop at a Thai tribal village. Walk at leisure, photographs, observe daily country life, and visit local homes where families are always warmly welcomed, then we will dine and perhaps share some rice wine with a family in one of the stilt houses. You would have a chance for "desire drinking", traditional dishes…
Note: Private traditional music and dancing show by local people is available with extra cost of $100/group. Please ask our guide to reserve if you are interested in.
Back to the hotel and have a night stay there.
DAY 04: FLIGHT TO HANOI (B)
Breakfast at the hotel. Check out, then drive to visit the Victory Memorial Statue on Dominique Hill. Next, explore the local market to see what the local people are exchanging and selling. You will have free time to wander around the old market area and enjoy its vibrant atmosphere.

The charge will be applied if cancellation is made within:

• Within 24 hours before departure time: 90% of reservation cost.
• 2-4 days prior to departure date: 50% of reservation cost.
• 5-7 days prior to departure date: 30 % of reservation cost.
• After booking confirmation: 10% of reservation cost.
