This private Dien Bien Phu historical and cultural tour is designed for travelers seeking meaningful insights into Vietnam’s past through the eyes of a knowledgeable local guide.
ITINERARY
Day 1: Hanoi - Dien Bien Phu (D)
14.30 Land at Dien Bien Phu airport. Meet your guide and driver, then transfer to a homestay/hotel.
Biking to see the vast Muong Thanh field. Visit the villages the lives of the local people.
Have dinner at Homestay

Day 2: The historical relics on the Dien Bien Phu Battlefield (B/L/D)
Breakfast at the homestay or hotel
Go to visit the local market in Dien Bien City.
Visit the Dien Bien Phu Victory Museum and admire the panoramic artwork, which is one of the world’s largest war-themed oil paintings reenacting the Dien Bien Phu battlefield.
Continue to visit some French positions such as Hill A1, Muong Thanh Bridge, and General De Castrie's bunker, Dominique Monument View Point.
Have lunch and try some Thai ethnic cuisine
Then, take a rest on the way to Muong Phang Commune, a beautiful valley located 30 km away from Dien Bien Phu city.
Drive to Muong Phang Commune (around 1.5 hours). On the way, we’ll stop to see the Cannon Pulling Monument that simulates the scene of pulling cannons by hand.
Arrive and check in the homestay in A Thai Village.
Cycling or walking (optional) along green fields to discover the culture and daily life of local villagers. Along the way, we will visit a local family, enjoy tea and conversation, and listen to traditional folk music performed by a local artist.

Day 3: Visit the Headquarters of the Dien Bien Phu Campaign (B/L)
Walk through rice fields and take a shortcut through the jungle to the former headquarters area (approx. 7 km), visiting General Vo Nguyen Giap’s bunker, VPA tunnels, and the former base of Chinese military advisers. Transfer back to the homestay.
Have lunch at the homestay
Transfer to Dien Bien Phu airport (45 min.)
Check in for the departure flight to Hanoi at 15.50
